FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OVERNIGHTS AT THE DALLAS ZOO
Attend a FREE open house for Lights Out at the Dallas Zoo on September 22 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Scout leaders, teachers, recreation center staff, youth group leaders, and other organized group leaders are invited to the Dallas Zoo on Thursday, September 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., to learn more about our Overnight programs. Tour the Zoo, see sleeping areas, and meet staff! Light snacks and program discounts will be provided free for each participant. The popular Lights Out at the Dallas Zoo program features opportunities to explore the world of animals through activities, special talks, and tours of the Zoo at night. Preregistration is required for this event. Forms can be found online at DallasZooEd.com or you can e-mail the education department for one at education@dallaszoo.com; Participants may bring up to two guests with them to this FREE event.
Lights Out programs are scheduled on Friday and Saturday nights for groups of all sizes. Special weekday overnights also can be booked for school groups. Children must be age 7 or older. The program is not exclusive to a single group, and multiple groups may be booked for the same evening. All overnights include:
- An after-hours tour of ZooNorth.
- A late night snack (eat dinner before you come) and a continental breakfast.
- Up close encounters with Education animals.
- An official Dallas Zoo Lights Out overnight patch for each youth participant.
- A morning Monorail Safari ride (weather dependent, first train leaves the station at 9:30 a.m.).
- Entrance to the Zoo the following day for all participants and chaperones.
Check-in begins at 6:30 p.m. Check-out is at 10:30 a.m. the following day. We require one adult chaperone per 10 participants, additional chaperones are always welcome. School overnights can be accommodated Thursday - Saturday nights. Cost is $45/participant. Chaperones are free at a 1:10 ratio. Overnights are booked on a first-come, first-served basis and completed registration forms , with payment, are required to reserve your spot.
